Who killed the electric car?
Popular mechanics tests yet-another-electric-car that no one will ever buy, the Aptera.
“Jetsons” styling, great performance and a 120 mile range. Surely big oil and the manufacturers wont let it succeed! Either that or it could be the fact that it is lighter than anything on the road short of a Lotus 7, has no bumpers, no deformable structure to speak of, two seats, windows that don’t open, etc, etc, etc. personally I think it is cool, but I also think Lotus 7′s are cool and am one of the only people I know who sees no problem driving them on the street amidst tractor trailers and Hummers.
Edit – I had a picture of an older prototype. This one looks MUCH stronger

uh, did you even notice (or read about) the fact that you don’t have the correct picture of the aptera? if you take a minute to read about it you will find ALL the safety and structure features.

So…the picture isn’t up to date? Sorry about that. I don’t see any significant difference from their website. If “all the safety features” means airbags and a design that is intended to be crash worthy (it HAS NOT been tested), then I guess you win. But the thing is registered as a motorcycle for a reason. Do you honestly believe that in a crash with anything other than a motorcycle you wouldn’t be seriously on the losing end of the deal? I said i like the car. In fact I would drive the car, but the average mom is never gonna let her baby drive the car.
